Cougars Finish Pac-12 Championships Tied for Eighth

PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State University women's golf team tied for eighth at the Pac-12 Championships at Palouse Ridge Golf Club. WSU shot 300 (+12) as a team in Sunday's final round Sunday to finish at 909 (+45), tied with No. 21 University of Oregon and No. 26 University of Washington.

Junior Emma Betland led the Cougars in all three rounds, finishing tied for 17th at 223 (+7) overall, tying for the eighth best spot but a Cougar in conference tournament history. Betland posted a 75 (+4) in the final round.

Senior Kristen Allard fired a 74 (+2) in the third round to finish tied for 32nd at 227 (+11). Allard had two birdies on the back nine and posted her best career finish at a conference tournament. Sophomore Mallory Kent fired an even-par 72, her best round of the tournament, after recording two birdies and an eagle on the back nine.

Freshman Kristen Rue carded a final round 79 (+7) to finish tied for 41st at 231 (+15) and freshman Lindsay Harmon finished tied for 53rd at 242 (+26).

No. 13 California claimed the inaugural Pac-12 Women's Golf Championship with an 881 (+17) after Joanne Lee birdied the 18th hole to break a tie with No. 3 USC and Daniela Holmqvist pared No. 18 on the ensuing and day's final group to seal the win. The Bears posted a 292 (+4) in the final round. Southern California shot a 287 (-1) in the final round to finish in second place at 882 (+18) while No. 17 Arizona carded a seven-under 281 in the third round to finish in third place at 884 (+20).

No. 13 Doris Chen of USC finished first overall with a 217 (+1). No. 7 of UCLA Tiffany Lua and No. 6 Giulia Molinaro of ASU finished tied for second at 218 (+2). No. 66 Joanne Lee of California finished in fourth place with an overall score of 219 (+3).

Round Notes
Four Cougars birdied on the 12th hole...WSU stated the day on the back nine and went four-under to start the day.
