Day 2 Results

PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State University women's tennis team completed day two of the 2011 Cougar Classic at the WSU Outdoor Tennis Courts, with six singles players and three doubles teams advancing to Sunday's finals.

In the Flight 1, semifinals senior Elisabeth Fournier defeated Taurie Bjerken of Gonzaga 6-2, 6-0 and Pietzuch of Boise State 6-0, 4-6, 6-0. Junior Liudmila Vasilieva advanced to the finals after taking down Heather Davidson of Montana 6-1, 6-0 and Lozano of Idaho 6-3, 6-1.

Junior Andjela Kankaras defeated Ryann Warner of Eastern Washington 6-1, 6-2 and Laurence Pelchat of Montana 6-4, 6-2 to advance to the finals in Flight 2. Freshman Elizaveta Luzina defeated Moira Hedberg of Eastern Washington 6-1, 6-1 and Morgan Basil of Boise State 6-4, 6-4. It will be an all Cougar final with Kankaras and Luzina competing at 10 a.m.

In Flight 3, junior Ksenia Googe defeated two players from Montana, Ashley Mackey 6-2, 6-3 and Precious Gbadamosi 6-4, 6-1. Sophomore Olga Musilovich swept Gabi Villegas of Montana State 6-0, 6-0 but fell to Sandy Vo of Boise State 3-6, 6-2, 6-4. Googe will take on Vo in the finals.

In Flight 4, freshman Anastasia Romantsova defeated Liana Bates of Montana State 7-5, 6-4 and Lauren Gibson of Montana 7-5, 6-0. Junior Erin Troedson fell to Lozano of Idaho 7-5, 1-6, 6-4 and will finish the tournament in the consolation round.

The Cougars advance three teams in to the doubles finals Sunday morning. In Flight 1, Kankaras/Koning defeated Davidson/Pelchat of Montana 8-6 and will play to Klamczyska/Pietzuch of Boise State in the championship. It is an all Cougar final in Flight 2 as Vasilieva/Luzina will take on Fournier/Romantsova. Vasilieva/Luzina defeated Knox/Flores of Idaho and Fournier/Romantsova knocked out Ricks/Norena of Eastern Washington to make it to the finals.

Play will resume Sunday morning at the WSU Outdoor Courts at 9 a.m.
