PULLMAN, Wash.- The No. 71 Washington State University tennis team fell to No. Arizona in Tucson Saturday.
In doubles action, the No. 2 doubles team of Andjela Kankaras and Olga Musilovich beat Lacey Smyth and Kim Stubbe 8-6 for the Cougars only doubles win.
Elisabeth Fournier defeated Sarah Landsman 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles to secure WSU's only point of the match. Musilovich fought hard at No. 4 but fell to Stubbe 6-3, 4-6, (10-4). At No. 5 singles Andjela Kankaras battled back to force a third set but lost to Susan McRann 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.
In other singles action, Liudmila Vasilieva lost to No. 99 Natasha Marks at No. 2 6-2, 6-2. Ksenia Googe fell at No. 3 to Smyth 6-3, 6-3. At No. 6 Jessica Gomez lost to Jane Huh 6-3, 6-0.
WSU returns to Pullman next weekend to host Montana and Montana State in a doubleheader Friday, March 11 and cross-state rival Washington Sunday, March 13.
