PULLMAN, Wash.- The Washington State Univeristy tennis team rallied to beat Santa Clara 4-3 today at the Simmelink Tennis Courts at Hollingbery Fieldhouse. The Cougars scored all four points in singles matches.

In doubles action, Elisabeth Fournier and Lea Jansen defeated Kacie Wagner and Alex Zaniewski 8-5 at No. 3. At No. 1, Liudmila Vasilieva and Olga Musilovich fell in a hard-fought match to Jessica Agra and Katie Lee 6-8. Ksenia Googe and Anjela Kankaras also fell in a tough No. 2 match to Kelly Lamble and Maggie McGeorge 8-5.

In singles play, Fournier took the No. 2 match with a 6-1, 6-2 over Lamble. At No. 3 Googe defeated Zaniewski 6-3, 6-3. Musilovich battled Wagner to claim the No. 4 victory 6-4, 6-4. At No. 6 singles, Jessica Gomez clinched the victory of the Cougars with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Agra. This is Gomez's first dual-match victory of the year.

In other singles matches, Vasilieva battled back in the second set but fell to Le 1-6, 6-7 (2-7) at No. 1. Kankaras fell to McGeorge 6-3, 6-4.

The Cougars will be back in action tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. against the Kansas Jayhawks. Matches will be played at the Simmelink Tennis Courts at Hollingbery Fieldhouse.
