REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. - Washington State women's rowing team had a successful day one at the Stanford Invitational, as the Cougars swept the Golden Knights of Central Florida, Friday afternoon.
The sixth-ranked Cougar varsity eight pulled for the fasted time of the day at 7:11.0, edging out UCF's crew, which finished the 2,000-meter course in 7:12.5.
WSU's second varsity eight was the biggest winner of the day, defeating UCF's second boat by just over 25 seconds. The Cougar varsity four won its race by 12 seconds. The Cougar novice boat also won its race over UCF.
The Cougars hit the water for day two of the Stanford Invitational Saturday. The varsity eight races friendly rival Tennessee at 10 a.m., and will match-up with Clemson at 2:40 p.m.
