Toth Still Alive, Cougar Doubles Teams Falter

OJAI, Calif. - Sophomore Amy Toth earned her 21st victory on the season Friday and pasted herself into the semifinal match in Pac-10 Invitational singles play at the Pac-10 Championships/Invitational. Toth took a two-set victory over Cal's Tiffany Lee 6-3, 6-2 and she will face Jessica Leitch of Arizona State Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
The rest of the Cougars competing were overcome by their doubles opponents. In the Championship pool, Alice Barnes/Anne Yelsey of Stanford put down Chris Martinez/Orsolya Sallai, 8-4. Ekaterina Burduli/Nora Gaal were one point closer in their 8-5 loss to Lauren Colalillo/Kady Pooler of Arizona State. In Invitational doubles play, Cougars Aleksandra Stefanova/Amy Toth fell to Marion Favelojaona/Cristina Visico of Cal, 8-5.
