TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Ike Diogu scored 17 points and Tommy Smith had 14 and
seven rebounds in limited time as Arizona State routed Washington State 96-55
Saturday night.
Diogu, a freshman who has scored in double figures in every game, had 14
points in the first half, when the Sun Devils (11-4, 3-1 Pac-10) led by as many
as 31 points.
Donnell Knight had 13 points and eight rebounds, and Jamal Hill had 14
points off the bench for the Sun Devils, who won for the seventh time in eight
games.
Ezenwa Ukeagu led Washington State (5-8, 0-4) with 12 points.
The Cougars had to play part of the first half without Marcus Moore, the
Pac-10's leading scorer.
Moore, who had six points after scoring 35 against Arizona on Thursday, was
in for 2˝ minutes before bone chips in his right ankle began to act up.
He missed his first four shots - part of a 5-for-23 start by the Cougars -
and Arizona State was ahead 44-13 before he made a 3-pointer with 2:17 left in
the first half.
The Sun Devils began the game with a 12-0 run in the first 4:05 and led 30-7
halfway through the half on Hill's 3-pointer.
Arizona State was ahead 28 points at halftime and opened a 60-25 lead with
an 18-5 run in the first 6:26 of the second half. Smith had six points and Hill
highlighted the surge with a four-point play.
The Sun Devil's biggest lead was 81-35 with 8:53 to go.
