PULLMAN, Wash. - Luke Ridnour scored a career-high 24 points to lead
No. 19 Oregon to a 94-86 victory over Washington State on Saturday.
James Davis added a career-high 21 points as the Ducks (15-5, 7-2 Pac-10)
broke a late first-half tie and took control. Frederick Jones scored 14 points
and had nine rebounds, and Luke Jackson added 11 points.
Marcus Moore scored a career-high 35 points for Washington State (4-14,
0-10), which has lost 12 straight. Mike Bush scored nine points to become the
23rd player in school history to score 1,000 points.
Oregon outrebounded the Cougars 35-27 and hit 52.8 percent of their shots
from the field. Washington State continued its poor shooting streak, hitting
just 47.7 percent from the field.
Ridnour scored 12 points in the first half as the Ducks went on a 13-4 run
in the final 6 minutes to take a 43-34 halftime lead. The Ducks led by 21
points when Ridnour's layup made it 73-52 midway through the second half.
Behind consecutive 3-pointers by Moore, the Cougars went on an 18-2 run to
make it 75-70 with 5 minutes remaining, but the Ducks pulled away at the
free-throw line.
Washington State turned the ball over 15 times and had 12 steals.
The win moved the Ducks to 7-2 in conference play for the third time. The
1999-2000 Ducks and the 1953-'54 squads each started league play 7-2.
