Courtney Risinger and Kahli Carter led all scorers with 16 points each to lead the Toledo Rockets to a 77-61 win over the Washington State Cougars in the consolation game of the Cougar Shootout Classic at the Spokane Arena.
With the contest tied at 20 with 8:02 left in the first half, Toledo outscored WSU 15-8 the rest of the stanza to take a 35-28 halftime lead. The Rockets (5-2) immediately shot out to a double-digit lead by outscoring WSU 12-2 in the first 6:08 of the second half to take control of the game.
Kelley Berglund led WSU with 15 points and Whitney Martindale added 11 for the Cougars (3-4).
In the championship game, Portland defeated Idaho 87-83 in overtime. Tournament MVP Tami Standish led Portland with a game high 26 points.
With the game tied at 72 at the end of regulation, Portland scored the first five points of the extra stanza as the Pilots never trailed in overtime. Idaho did come back to tie matters up at 83 with 55 seconds left but the Pilots closed matters out with four consecutive points to take the win.
Chavaughn Brown led a contingent of five Idaho players that scored in double figures with 17 points.
