Vince Hanson

Vince Hanson gained national prominence in basketball as a sophomore for Washington State during 1945 when he set a national scoring record with 592 points. He was accorded Helms Foundation All-America recognition and named All-Pacific Coast Conference. During his career, he set single season records for points and field goals and career marks for field goals (460) and points (1,153). His collegiate career also included two varsity letters in baseball as a first baseman and two in track, where he was a high jumper. Hanson was drafted by the Baltimore Bullets of the Basketball Association of America (later the NBA’s Washington Wizards), but elected to play with the AAU’s Goodyear Wingfoots out of Akron, Ohio. Hanson was inducted to the Pac-10 Men’s Basketball Hall of Honor in 2007.
