Steve Broussard donned a Cougar uniform from 1985-89 and established himself as one of the most versatile running backs in school history. As a sophomore he led the Pacific-10 Conference in receiving, led the Pac-10 in rushing the following season and his final two years led the conference in all-purpose yards. He was a two-time All-Pac-10 First Team selection and garnered All-American second-team honors by The Sporting News and honorable mention honors by the Associated Press as a junior. He led WSU to an Aloha Bowl victory in 1988 with a game-high 139 rushing yards and as a senior was named the Pac-10 Offensive MVP. He was selected for the Hula Bowl, East-West Shrine Game and Blue-Gray Game following his senior year. During his Cougar career he set nine WSU records, including 4,635 all-purpose yards, 33 career rushing touchdowns, 41 career total touchdowns and 248 total points. He finished his career seventh in the Pac-10 in all-purpose yards and 13th in rushing yards (3,054). He was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the first round of the 1990 NFL Draft, beginning a nine-year NFL career that also included stops in Cincinnati and Seattle.
