Ron Cey

Ron Cey led Washington State to a 29-9 record in 1968, his only season in Pullman. He batted .362 with eight home runs and 33 RBI as a Cougar. Three years later, “The Penguin” was with the Los Angeles Dodgers as a rookie to begin a 17-year MLB career. Cey played in three World Series and was a co-MVP of the 1981 Fall Classic won by the Dodgers. A six-time All-Star, he belted 316 home runs in his career with Los Angeles, the Chicago Cubs and Oakland Athletics. A solid defender, he led the National League in fielding percentage by a third baseman (.977) in 1979. Cey is also a member of the State of Washington and Pierce County Sports Hall of Fame.
