Washam began playing professional golf with the Ladies' Professional Golf Association in 1973 and in 1975 she was named the “Most Improved Player,” after winning back-to-back tournaments. The best season of Washam’s 17-year career was in 1980 where she posted 12 top-10 finishes on her way to over $107,000 in earnings. A five-time winner on the LPGA tour, Washam was the only player in LPGA history to have scored two holes-in-one during the same event at the 1979 Women’s Kemper Open.
