He played professionally for six seasons with the Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles and later server as head coach of the Eagles. While with the Rams he was a member of the 1951 NFL Championship team. In Canada he coached the Calgary Stampeders and the Hamilton Tiger Cats after beginning his coaching career as head coach at the University of Montana. Williams is a member of both the Inland Northwest and State of Washington Sports Halls of Fame.
