Gail Cogdill spent three seasons, 1957-59 as an end for the Washington State football team. His 252 receiving yards against Northwestern in 1958 set an NCAA single-game record and stood as a Washington State record for 35 years. He participated in the East-West Shrine Game and Senior Bowl. A sixth round pick by the Detroit Lions in 1960, he was named Associated Press Rookie of the Year that year when he caught 43 passes for 642 yards. Three times, he racked up over 900 receiving yards in a 14-game NFL season. Cogdill earned All-Pro accolades three times 34 receiving touchdowns in his nine-year pro career with the Lions, Baltimore Colts and Atlanta Falcons. He was a member of the 1968 NFL champion Colts. A member of the State of Washington Sports Hall of Fame and the Inland Empire Sports Hall of Fame, Cogdill was named to the All-Northwest Football Team in 1977.
