Hall of Fame
Dale Gentry was at home on the gridiron, on the hardwood court and on the diamond. He earned eight varsity letters, 1938-41. In his senior basketball season, he was a starter on the Washington State squad that advanced to the NCAA championship game. That fall, he earned All-West Coast and All-America honors as an end on the Cougar football team. His exploits earned him a spot in the East-West Shrine Game. He earned five battle stars while serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He spent three seasons, 1946-48 with the Los Angeles Dons of the All-America Football Conference. Gentry returned to Washington State as an assistant football coach, 1952-55.
