Bud Roffler

A local product out of Spokane, Bud Roffler was a multi-sport athlete during his time in Pullman, competing in football, baseball and basketball. On the gridiron Roffler was a running back, defensive back, kicker and kick return specialist, leading the team in scoring with nine touchdowns as a senior in 1951. His career highlights include a career-best 209 rushing yards in a win at Washington, an 87-yard interception return for a touchdown against Montana and eight career interceptions. A versatile player, Roffler rushed for more than 500 yards in his career while playing different positions and special teams. During his career he accounted for touchdowns rushing, passing, receiving and returning both kicks and punts, and also performed kicking and punting duties. On the baseball diamond he led the team in hits, doubles and RBI during his senior campaign and ended his Cougar career with 59 hits, 11 doubles, five triples and three home runs. Following his athletic career Roffler was inducted into the Inland Northwest Sports Hall of Fame in Spokane.
