Bob Gambold

Bob Gambold was a two-sport athlete for the Cougars, 1948-51, playing football and basketball. As a junior, he quarterbacked Phil Sarboe’s final Cougar team and was the field general for Forest Evashevski’s first Washington State team as a senior. A fine all-around athlete, Gambold showed his versatility as a senior in 1950, throwing for over 700 yards, catching five passes, punting six times and returning kickoffs. On the hardwood, he was starter as a junior and was part of the Pacific Coast Conference Northern Division champion squad. He was named All-Northern Division as a senior. He entered the coaching ranks and was on the Cougar staff, 1956-60. He was on the Denver Broncos’ staff in Super Bowl XII.
