Sandy Davison joined the Cougar soccer program in February of 2014.
Entering her third season on the Palouse, Davison looks to build upon a highly-successful first two years at Washington State. During her second season with WSU, Davison helped WSU to a fifth-consecutive postseason berth for the first time in school history. The Cougars drastically increased their offensive production from her first season, netting 34 goals en route to a record-tying 14 wins.
The Cougars garnered several athletic and academic awards during Davison’s second campaign, including four NSCAA All-Pacific Region selections, four Pac-12 All-Conference honorees, the NSCAA Team Academic Award, and eight Pac-12 All-Academic honorees.
In her first season in Pullman, Davison guided WSU to its fourth-consecutive postseason berth for the first time in school history. Davison and the Cougars developed a dynamic offensive threat with 11 different goal-scorers in the season, the most for a WSU side since 2009. Three student-athletes received All-Pac-12 honors, led by a second team selection for Nicole Setterlund.
Prior to arriving on the Palouse, Davison spent the 2013 season as the volunteer assistant coach at Louisville. The Cardinals finished runner-up in the American Athletic Conference and earned a Top 25 national ranking.
Before arriving in Louisville, Davison spent a season with Cincinnati as the volunteer assistant coach with the then-Big East Conference program. Her first-collegiate job came as an assistant coach to former WSU Head Coach Steve Nugent in 2011 at UNCG.
Her experience with US Soccer Youth National Teams began in 2002 when she was a U.S. Soccer Federation women’s representative at the USOC Women’s Leadership Conference. Since then she has worked at U-14 Youth National ID Camps, U-17 Youth National Team Camps, and the U-15 Youth National Team Nike Friendlies in 2008. In addition, she served on the US Soccer Youth National Team Scouting staff from 2010-12.
Davison has coached in three of the four ODP regions. She has served as a U-16 assistant coach for Region II and Region IV, and served as a regional staff coach for Region IV (1997-98, 2009) and Region III (2003-04, 2006-08, 2011). She served as the head coach for the ’93 U-17 CONCACAF Costa Rica tour for Region III in 2008 and was the Region III head coach for the 94, 93 and 92 age groups from 2006-08. She was a part of ODP state teams in California, Florida, North Carolina and Texas for 11 years from 1994 through 2012.
Her coaching career began in 1987 as the head coach of San Juan Soccer Club in Sacramento, Calif. She worked with club teams in Sacramento and nearby Davis until serving the first of three stints with the Challenge South Soccer Club in Houston from 1998-2000. Challenge South was ranked by Soccer America as the 12th-best girls club in the country for developing and showcasing youth players. Davison was key in Challenge South growing from two to 11 teams and the implementation of a youth academy program that attracted elite players.
Davison was the technical director at the prestigious Pleasanton (Calif.) Rage Soccer Club from 2000-02. She coached multiple state and regional championship teams and the 2002 USYS national champion. Davison became the program director for the Weston Fury Soccer Club in Weston, Fla. From 2004-06, her responsibilities included club programming, coaching development, staffing and staff development. Her Weston 90 G Premier team was a state finalist in 2004 and 2005.
Davison led the Tophat Soccer Club of Atlanta to back-to-back state championships in 2006 and 2007 while serving as the Girls Director of Coaching. In 2007-08, she was the Girls Director of Coaching at Space City FC in Houston where she was instrumental in the development of the 8v8 academy program in the club and State Association of South Texas.
After returning to Challenge South in 2008-09, Davison moved on to become the Girls Division Director at perennial-power Sereno Soccer Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. She assisted in the placement of over 40 players in NCAA Division I, II and III programs. She coached the 95 and 97 Sereno teams to Top 25 national rankings as recognized by Got Soccer in 2010 and 2011. Davison’s squads captured state titles in 2009 and 2010.
Davison graduated from Ashford University with a Bachelor of Arts in cognitive studies.
