Katie Schoene (Shay-KNEE) enters her first season as the volunteer assistant coach for the Cougars after spending the 2008-10 seasons at Idaho as an assistant coach.
Last year, she helped the Vandals to their best season in school history with a 14-7-0 record, including a 5-3-0 mark in the Western Athletic Conference. Idaho placed a school-best third in the WAC and qualified for its first conference tournament.
In 2009, the Vandals posted the nation's second-best win improvement with eight, also the best improvement in school history. Prior to Idaho, Schoene was an assistant coach at Oregon (2007) after a four-year playing career at Portland State (2003-06).
At Portland State, Schoene was a three-time Big Sky All-Academic selection and was all-conference honorable mention and NSCAA Scholar All-West Region honorable mention as a senior.
Schoene holds a United States Soccer Federation `C' coaching license. Originally from Seattle, she earned a degree in speech communication from Portland State in 2007.
