Greg Sheen

Greg Sheen officially joined the Cougars' coaching staff in March of 2018.  Sheen brought with him a wealth of coaching experience including a four-year stint as the head coach at the University of Texas San Antonio from 2014-17.

"I would first like to say a special thank you to Sandy Davison for all her hard work she has given this program over the last few years.  We wish her the best at Indiana," said Shulenberger.

"Coach Sheen will be a terrific addition to our WSU soccer program. Greg and my relationship dates way back to our club years in Atlanta. His teams have always played at a championship level both at club and the collegiate level. Greg's work ethic and recruiting network along with his ability to make teams better will be a great fit for our program. We look forward to having Greg and his wife, Gena, on our team as we head into what we hope will be an exciting 2018 season."

Sheen is a former Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year recipient, and led the Roadrunners to one of the largest turnarounds in Conference USA play after taking over the reins at UTSA. After taking over as interim head coach in 2014, Sheen shifted energy towards improving the team's offensive strategy. Sheen focused on an increase in shots-on-goal percentage, assists, shots, and ultimately goals.

""I'd like to thank Coach Todd Shulenberger and Deputy Director of Athletics Anne McCoy for the wonderful opportunity they have presented me to join Washington State University," said Sheen. "The soccer team is coming off an incredible 2017 season and I'm looking forward to working with Todd, Coach Jon Harvey, and all of their players as they push to reach even higher levels of competitive performance and success in 2018. I can't wait to get started."

Previous to serving as a coach at UTSA, Sheen spent three seasons with Wright State as the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator. In his three seasons, Sheen helped lead the Raiders to 30 wins and multiple Horizon League Tournament Championship appearances.

Sheen previously played professional soccer with Atlanta Ruckus during the outdoor season, and played with the Atlanta Attack of the National Premier Soccer League during the indoor season.

He earned a bachelor's degree in general studies with an emphasis in sport management from the University of Dayton. Sheen is married to Gena Draney, and together they have seven children: Meghan, Hannah, Chelsee, Catherine, Sierra, Brandon, and Dakota.
