Biography

CAREER – Ranks on WSU’s all-time list for 3-point field goal percentage (third – .420) and 3-pointers (t-12th – 137).

SENIOR (2018-19) – Started 19 of the 24 games he played in during a season impacted by injury…ranked seventh in the Pac-12 with a .404 3-point field goal percentage…scored in double figures in three of WSU’s first four games of the season highlighted by 14 points on 4-for-8 from 3-point range against CSUN (Nov. 27)…averaged 5.0 assists in WSU’s first seven games, including 8 against Cal Poly (Nov. 19) and a career-high 9 against Idaho (Dec. 5)…missed four games from Dec. 17-23 due to a concussion…returned to double figures against California (Jan. 17) and Stanford (Jan. 19) with 11 and 13 points, respectively…scored 13 points against Utah (Feb. 23) before missing the remainder of the season due to a concussion…started ‘Senior Day’ against Oregon State (March 9) for ceremonial purposes, but did not play after the tip.

JUNOR (2017-18) – Was the only Cougar to start all 31 games this season…led WSU and the Pac-12 shooting .455 (71-for-156) from 3-point range…was second on the team with 71 3-pointers and third averaging 9.0 points per game…scored in double figures 16 times, starting with a then-career high 17 points against Seattle U (Nov. 15) in WSU’s second game of the season….had 17 points once again in WSU’s come-from-behind win over Saint Joseph’s (Nov. 23) at the Wooden Legacy…at UTEP (Dec. 9) made a career-high 6 3-pointers on his way to a career-high 18 points…tied his career-highs for points and 3-pointers with 18 points on 6-for-9 from 3-point range on his birthday at Colorado (Jan. 18)…ended the season scoring in double figures in six of the final 10 games, including tying his career-high against Arizona State (Feb. 4) and back-to-back 14-point games against Utah (Feb. 17) and at California (Feb. 22)…ranks on WSU’s single-season list for 3-point field goal percentage (fifth – .455)…ranks on WSU’s junior single season list for 3-point field goal percentage (second – .455), 3-point field goals (seventh – 71) and 3-point field goal attempts (10th – 156).

SOPHOMORE (2016-17) – Played in 27 games for the Cougars…averaged 17.1 minutes, 2.9 points,1.3
 assists, 1.2 rebounds and 0.4 steals per game…missed four games due to a concussion…played a career-high 31 minutes at Stanford (Jan. 12)…scored a Pac-12-high 12 points against Colorado (Jan 21) after shooting 4-for-5 from beyond the arc…had a career-high 5 rebounds against Central Washington (Nov. 15)…added a career-high 3 steals against Arizona (Feb. 16)…tallied a career-high 4 assists twice, at California (Jan. 14) and at USC (March 1).

FRESHMAN (2015-16) – Played in 20 games for the Cougars, including three starts…averaged 10.7 minutes per game, 2.5 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.7 assists…missed several games due to a back injury and sickness…scored in each of WSU’s first three games, including a career-high 15 points against Northern Arizona in the season opener (Nov. 13)…set a WSU freshman single-game record by going 5-for-5 from beyond the 3-point arc in that game…had a personal Pac-12 best 5 points against California (Feb. 21).

HIGH SCHOOL – Earned four varsity letters at Federal Way High School under coach Jerome Collins…also lettered one year in track…served as team captain as a SENIOR, averaging 24.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game…was named The Tacoma News Tribune, Seattle Times and Associated Press 4A Player of the Year, as well as the 4A State Tournament MVP…was also named first team all-State, The Tacoma News Tribune’s 2014-15 All-Area Player of the Year, South Puget Sound League MVP, and led the Eagles to the 2015 State title with a 27-2 overall record and 13-0 league mark…as a JUNIOR in 2013-14, earned second team all-league honors. 

PERSONAL – Born Viont’e Ramone Daniels, January of 1997, in Seattle, Wash…father Victor is a technician…mother Shelia is a customer service representative… younger sister Nia…cousin Thomas Howard played football for UTEP and in the NFL… hobbies include hanging out with friends, playing video games and writing poetry…involved in leadership, poetry club and mentoring in high school…plans to major in sport management at Washington State.
