Cougar Student-Athletes Prepare for Their Future at GRE Workshop

Washington State student-athletes invested part of their Sunday preparing for their future.

The student-athletes honed their skills for the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) during a workshop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bohler Athletic Complex.

Student-athletes learned fundamental test taking tips and techniques, and other relevant entrance exam information, from Vikram Rangraj, Lead Instructor with the Princeton Review.

“We were given really good strategies for taking the exam,” said track and field student-athlete Audrey Ketcham. “It will help me prepare in a few different ways. The first way is mentally relaxing when taking the GRE and It will also help me prepare with how I should approach the specific problems. He gave us skills and strategies of answering the questions instead of giving us a review of correct answers to similar questions.”

“The best part was getting an idea of what the test is going to be like,” swimming student-athlete Loree Olson said. “He gave really good strategies and different skills to learn and work on going into the test. That’s really going to help when I get to those struggle points in the test. Thinking back to this review is going to help me get through those struggle points.”

Like the Professional Development Kickoff last fall, Sunday's workshop, organized by the Student-Athlete Development Department, is another example of events designed to assist student-athletes in the preparation for graduation and life after college.
