BAIRD'S HIGH SCHOOL CAREER
Coached by John O'Rourke...a versatile athlete for the Chieftains, playing safety, wide receiver, linebacker, and returning kicks and punts...lettered three times on the gridiron and in baseball...started at strong safety for the Chieftain as a SOPHOMORE...JUNIOR year racked up 958 all-purpose yards and six touchdowns...averaged 13.2 yards per punt return and 20.5 yards per kick return...also recorded 60 tackles, including five tackles for loss...earned first team All-Greater St. Helens League honors at defensive back and second team as a kick returner...named to The Columbian's All-Region team...helped Columbia River capture league title and advance to state semifinals with an 11-1 record...as a SENIOR accumulated 1,160 all-purpose yards and 11 touchdowns...defensively racked up 90 tackles, including three behind the line...was once again dangerous on returns, scoring twice and averaging 25.9 yards per return on kicks, and tallying 15.7 yards per return with a touchdown on punts...added five rushing touchdowns, two receiving touchdowns, and an 86-yard interception return for six...was voted first team All-Greater St. Helens League and was the Co-Defensive Player of the Year...All-Region defensive back by The Columbian...picked by the Seattle Times to its all-classifications All-State second team...Seattle Times Red Chip selection...first team All-State defensive back by the Associated Press...helped Chieftains to the GSHL title and a trip to the state quarterfinals...served as Columbia River's defensive captain and will play in Washington's East-West All-Star Game...finished career with 2,118 all-purpose yards and a 22-6 record as a member of the varsity.

PERSONAL: Bryan Richard Baird...born March 3, 1986 at Walla Walla, Wash...parents Bill and Barbara Baird...has two brothers, Brady and Bryce, and a sister, Bethany...both grandparents, and aunt, and brother Brady all attended Washington State...joins Columbia River teammate Eddie Vickers as a 2004 Cougar signee.
