Cougar Athletic Fund
               TPS Ranking

The Cougar Athletic Fund unveiled an updated donor ranking system in an effort to provide greater incentives for annual membership in the CAF and season ticket purchases, Washington State University Director of Athletics Bill Moos announced Thursday. The new Ticket Priority System (TPS) has fewer categories than its predecessor, which had been virtually unchanged since its inception in 2001, and lays the groundwork for an online system which is much more user-friendly.

"We needed to simplify our ranking process to let our fans know what really makes a difference for this department," said Moos. "We have created greater incentives for annual membership and season tickets, rewarding the contributions that truly make an impact."

The ranking changes are designed to assign the greatest value to unrestricted gifts to the CAF and season ticket purchases in football and men's basketball. The goal is also to reward consistency of investment on an annual basis. These changes bring WSU much more in line with industry standards across the country.

"The 10-year-old Ticket Priority System was a success in terms of rewarding individuals and organizations for their investment in Washington State University," said Moos. "We've made some adjustments to better serve our donor base which is critical to the future success of WSU Athletics."

The new points system began July 1, 2011. All donor rankings are currently locked in place as of the close of the fiscal year (June 30, 2011), based on the old criteria, until the CAF conducts the first ranking via this new system in the fall of 2011. All activity starting July 1, 2011 will be rewarded according to the values in the chart below when that first ranking takes place:

TPS Category Point Equivalents
1. Current year unrestricted athletic scholarship, endowment, and/or capital giving 4 pts./dollar
2. Current year "other" athletic giving (non-cash, sport specific) 1 pt/dollar
3. Previous cumulative giving to Athletics 2 pt./dollar
4. Number of consecutive years of CAF membership 100 pts./year of consecutive membership
5. 2011 Football season tickets purchased & 2011-12 Men's Basketball season tickets purchased 1,000 pts./FB & MBK season ticket account

The CAF will also be conducting three rankings of our donor base annually: once in the fall (for basketball season ticket allocation and bowl ticket allocation), once in February (for basketball postseason ticket allocation and football season ticket allocation) and at the close of the fiscal year.

In conjunction with the new TPS system, there will be a new benefit structure for CAF members unveiled in the fall, focusing on visible ways that CAF members can be identified in their community. There will be also synergy between the "Wave The Flag" and "Undefeated Fans" initiatives previously rolled out through the WSU Athletic Marketing office.
