WSU Head-To-Head With Alabama Until Final Seconds

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - It all came down to the very end for the Washington State women's swim team at the Alabama Aquatics Center.
The Cougars fought a tough battle against first-time opponent Alabama in the final seconds of the 400-yard freestyle relay. A mere three seconds in the event resulted in a 48-47 one-point win for the Crimson Tide. WSU won five of the nine individual events and the opening relay event.
WSU is now 2-2 in dual meet competition with wins against NE Louisiana and Georgia Southern. The one-point losses to Louisville and Alabama ties for the smallest margin of defeat for the program. However, the margin is quite good for the Cougars, who competed against two perennial national powerhouses of collegiate swimming.
The Cougars will host ACC conference school Florida State at Gibb Pool Oct. 24 at 11:00 a.m.
