PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State men's basketball freshman Ace Glass and junior ND Okafor earned All-WCC postseason honors from the West Coast Conference, the organization announced Tuesday morning. Glass was named to the All-WCC Freshman Team and the All-WCC Second Team, while Okafor picked up All-WCC Honorable Mention.
Glass led the Cougars in scoring, averaging 16.3 points per game, best in the conference by a freshman and top-20 nationally for a rookie campaign. Ten times Glass delivered 20+ points, including a record-breaking 40-point performance against Arizona State in the Maui Invitational Semifinals, breaking the WSU freshman single-game scoring record.
The Rialto, California native is the second Cougar freshman to be named to the All-WCC Freshman Team after Tomas Thrastarson earned the honor last season. Glass became just the second Cougar freshman in program history to eclipse 500 season points and would break Myles Rice's freshman season scoring record of 519 points with 13 points over the remainder of the season. Glass is on pace to set WSU freshman records in single-game scoring, single-season scoring, 3-pointers made and attempted, and free throw percentage.
Okafor earned his first-career conference honor, doubling his scoring and rebounding output since his sophomore campaign, while starting every game for the Cougs. The Irishman finished second in the WCC with 46 blocked shots, averaging 11.0 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game. Okafor led WSU with a 58.8 field goal percentage, ninth in the Conference.
Okafor delivered his first-career double-double with 11 points and a career-high 12 rebounds against Seattle U, December 30. He followed with a second-career double-double in the regular-season finale at Pepperdine. The junior led the Cougars in rebounding 10 times and blocked shots in 21 games.
Washington State continues its season, Friday, March 6, at the Credit Union 1 West Coast Conference Championships. The Cougars enter as the No. 8 seed and await the winner of Portland versus Pepperdine for a 6 p.m. tipoff at Orleans Arena and live on ESPN+.
