Cougs Draw Vandals in 16th Battle of the Palouse

MOSCOW, Idaho – The Washington State women's soccer team drew the Idaho Vandals, 1-1, Thursday evening at the P1FCU Kibbie Dome in Moscow, Idaho. The Cougars (0-1-1) equalized in the 37th minute after Idaho jumped out to the early lead, extending their unbeaten streak against the Vandals to 15-consecutive games.
After conceding an early goal in the fifth minute, Cougar sophomore transfer Audrey Shackelford battled back to score the tying goal late in the first half. The score marked the first goal of Shackelford's college career and the first goal of the Cougs' 2025 season.
WSU outshot Idaho 15-5, with 'keeper Keara Fitzgerald called on for two saves, one in each half. The Cougars put four shots on target, their most through two games.
Sophomore Elliotte Kortus made her first career start for the Cougars alongside graduate student Abigail Siddall, making her WSU debut.
The Cougars return to Pullman for a Sunday matchup with No. 13 Georgia at Lower Soccer Field. The Cougs and Bulldogs kick off at 1 p.m. PT with coverage on ESPN+. Former WSU Head Coach Keidane McAlpine leads Georgia, returning to Pullman for the first time since 2018, when he led the USC program.
