SAN DIEGO (May 17, 2025) – Washington State had its seventh-inning lead slip away in a season-ending 12-10 defeat at San Diego State Saturday afternoon.

All nine Cougar starters collected hits led but senior
Jack Weise who capped his career with a career-high four hits while
Max Hartman recorded three hits including a home run and drove in four runs.
Ryan Skjonsby also homered and senior catcher
Will Cresswell drove in two runs.

San Diego State erased WSU's 10-6 lead with four runs in the seventh before scoring the go-ahead runs in the eighth inning. The Cougars combined to leave 11 runners on base.

Will Cresswell gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead with an RBI-single to right field in the first inning. WSU answered SDSU's two-run second with a pair of runs in the third on a Hartman leadoff solo homer to centerfield and a Cresswell RBI-groundout. WSU pushed their lead to 6-2 with a three-run fourth inning on Skjonsby's leadoff solo home run to left-centerfield followed by an RBI-double form Thiele and a
Gavin Roy sacrifice fly.

The Aztecs made it a one-run game with three runs in three runs in the fourth and another run in the sixth to cut the Cougar lead to 7-6. WSU answered back with three runs in the seventh after Theile was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Hartman pulled a two-run single through the right side for a 10-7 lead.

SDSU evened things up at 10-10 with four hits and three runs in the seventh inning. WSU loaded the bases with two outs in the eighth but the Aztec bullpen ended the threat with a strikeout. SDSU used a leadoff double in the eighth, a sacrifice bunt and a back-to-back hits to take a 12-10 lead.
