PULLMAN, Wash. (January 27, 2025) – Washington State women's basketball center, Candace Kpetikou, was named the WCC Freshman Player of the Week Monday morning.

This is Kpetikou's first weekly conference honor, and the fourth Freshman of the Week award for the Cougars this season with Dayana Mendes (12/2) and Charlotte Abraham (12/23, 12/31) each earning the award in December.

Kpetikou finished the week with 25 points, scoring a career-high 12 points on Thursday against Portland before re-setting her career-high with 13 at LMU on Saturday. She shot at a .692 clip (9-13) from the floor and .636 (7-11) on free throws. While averaging 12.5 points a game, Kpetikou also added nine rebounds, two blocks, a steal and an assist to her weekly stat line.

The Cougars are in Corvallis to play Oregon State this evening at 7 p.m. before returning home for a pair of games next weekend, hosting Pacific on Thursday, Jan. 30 at 6 p.m., and San Diego on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 12 p.m. noon. Each game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
