Rowing Set to Host Oregon State in 25th Winchell Cup

PULLMAN, Wash. (April 4, 2025) – Washington State women's rowing gets to compete at home this weekend as they will battle with Oregon State 25th Winchell Cup race at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 5 at Wawawai Landing in Colton, Wash.

PULLMAN, Wash. (April 4, 2025) – Washington State women's rowing gets to compete at home this weekend as they will battle with Oregon State 25th Winchell Cup race at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 5 at Wawawai Landing in Colton, Wash.

Both teams are currently ranked in the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) national poll, with Oregon State at 18th and WSU ranked 24th. The Winchell Cup goes to the combined point winner for the V8, 2V8 and V4 races, and the Crawford Perpetual Plate goes to the winning V8 boat.

The Cougars hit the water Saturday morning at 9 a.m. with the 3V8+ and  4V8+ flight, followed by the 2V4+ at 9:15 a.m.

At 9:30 a.m., the 2V8+ will push off, and then the V4+ at 9:45 a.m., the V8+ at 10 a.m., and rounding out the day at 10:15 will be the 3V4+, 4V4+ and 5V4+ races.

The Winchell Cup and Crawford Perpetual Plate will be up for grabs once again this Saturday. The Winchell Cup has been given annually since 2001 to the overall winner of the dual regatta between WSU and OSU. It is named after Washington State novice rowing coach Jody Winchell. The Crawford Perpetual Plate has been presented to the winner of the WSU/OSU first varsity eight race since 2003 and is named after former Cougar varsity rowing coach Tammy Crawford. Oregon State is currently in possession of both trophies after winning the first varsity eight race and the overall regatta last season.

The Cougars will continue their spring season next weekend, staying close to home for the Fawley Cup against Gonzaga, Saturday, April 12 in Spokane, Wash.
