KICKOFF NOTES
Wazzu concludes its nonconference schedule with a trip to No. 7 Utah State, Thursday, Sept. 19, in Logan, Utah. The Cougs and Aggies will kick off at 3 p.m. PT/4 p.m. MT from Chuck and Gloria Bell Soccer Field with coverage on MW Network.

Washington State and Utah State are meeting for the third time in program history, with WSU winning the inaugural meeting in 1997 in Pullman and a second meeting in Salt Lake City in 2006. The Cougs posted shutouts in both matches. Thursday's match marks the first meeting between the Aggies and Cougs in 6,591 days (18 years).

Cougar soccer was named No. 21 on SoccerWire's list of the Top 50 most successful women's soccer programs in the country over the last five years.

All-time against nationally-ranked opponents, the WSU program is 45-123-31, a record that falls to 15-72-11 when playing on a top-25 opponent's field. Utah State marks the second top-10 opponent of the season and second ranked match away from Pullman after a 2-0 defeat at then-No. 2 Stanford, Sept. 1.

Last time on the pitch at Georgia, the Cougars dropped a 1-4 result to the Bulldogs with Coug sophomore Nathalie Lewis netting her first-career goal in the 70th minute. The goal pulled WSU to a 1-2 scoreline before the Cougs' offensive push was punished by Georgia's counterattack in the final 10 minutes for a lopsided scoreline.

On the horizon, the Cougars will begin their West Coast Conference slate, Saturday, Sept. 28, hosting San Diego as an affiliate member of the WCC.

Grayson Lynch played her 86th career match Sunday against Georgia, moving her into a 4th-place tie in school history for career appearances. If Lynch plays all remaining regular season matches, she will finish second in all-time WSU matches played with 97 behind Sydney Pulver (98).

In last Thursday's shutout win against Georgia Southern, Nadia Cooper earned her 16th career shutout and picked up her 29th career win. Cooper moved into a tie with Lindsey Jorgensen for fourth in WSU career GK wins.

Lindsey Turner scored her first goal of the season against Georgia Southern, delivering the game-winning header in the 51st minute. The goal from the fifth-year senior marked her second career Cougar goal and third all-time collegiate goal after netting one at UC Riverside.

Sophomore Nathalie Lewis scored her first career goal in the loss at Georgia, scoring from the right side of the penalty area after a turn to shake her defender. Sophomore Naomi Clark played with her back to goal to receive a pass from sophomore Reagan Kotschau at the top of the box, turning to find Lewis for the sophomore trifecta score - Kotschau to Clark to Lewis.

Head Coach Todd Shulenberger earned his 100th win Sunday, Aug. 25, with a 2-1 win against Idaho. Shulenberger became the 140th active head coach to reach 100 career wins and the 44th to hit the century mark at a single school.

Sophomore Alena Watts tallied her first career assist and first career point in Thursday's win over Georgia Southern. Watts, a Georgia native, served an aerial through ball into the Eagles' defensive area for Lindsey Turner to head home for the game-winner, giving Watts a homecoming memory and the game-winning assist in front of friends and family.

True freshman Kendall Campbell made her first college start at No. 2 Stanford. The California native has started three games and has played in every match. Campbell scored her first collegiate goal against Montana, netting the second goal in a 3-0 win in the home opener.

Shevaun Judon and Ashly Berge made their first WSU starts in the Sept. 8 draw with UCSD. Judon made her first start in 1,060 days, last starting for Liberty at North Florida, Oct. 14, 2021. Berge made her first start in 689 days, last starting for Boise State vs New Mexico, Oct. 10, 2022.

Nadia Cooper was named the WCC Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 26 for her performances in home wins over Montana and Idaho. Cooper eclipsed 5,000 career minutes played, moved to sixth in school history with 176 career saves, and fifth with 28 career wins and 15 career shutouts. The honor was Cooper's third career weekly conference honor, having been named Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week twice as a freshman in 2021.

The West Coast Conference welcomed Washington State as an affiliate member in women's soccer for the 2024 and 2025 soccer seasons, alongside Oregon State. The Cougars will be eligible for the WCC's automatic NCAA Tournament bid and compete in the Conference alongside top-25 teams in Santa Clara and Pepperdine.

In the WCC Preseason Coaches Poll, the Cougars were selected to finish second, behind nationally-ranked Santa Clara and ahead of nationally-ranked Pepperdine.

Two Cougars earned WCC preseason honors with redshirt-fifth-year senior forward Grayson Lynch and sophomore midfielder Reagan Kotschau named to the WCC Preseason Team.

Match Milestones: In last Sunday's match Nadia Cooper made her 60th career start and Grayson Lynch played in her 86th career match, tied for fourth in all-time Cougar history. With her next appearance, Lynch will move into sole possession of fourth in school history and five games behind former teammate Mykiaa Minniss with 92 career matches played. With her next appearance, Shevaun Judon will reach 50 career games, played, including 12 since transferring from Liberty. Maggie Mace make her 40th career start with her next runout, including seven starts as a Coug.

The Pac-12 Conference announced four expansion schools for the 2026-27 season, including Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, and San Diego State.
