Cougars Set Two Pool Records, Beats Utah for First Time Since 2017

PULLMAN, Wash. (February 2, 2024) – Washington State closed its Pac-12 Conference schedule with a dominating 145-117 win over visiting Utah at Gibb Pool Friday.
 
The Cougars claimed eight events and set two school records to beat the Utes for the first time since 2017. Sophomores Dori Hathazi and Emily Lundgren each won twice, sophomore Anna Rauchholz added a win, junior Emma Wright earned her first win at as a Coug and WSU claimed both relays.
 
WSU opened the meet with an impressive win the 200 medley relay and later recorded four straight wins as Hathazi won the 200 free (1:48.51), Rauchholz won the 100 back (53.90), Lundgren won the 100 breast with an NCAA "B" time of 1:00.58 and Hathazi added another win in the 200 fly (1:59.72) by nearly three seconds.
 
Houston transfer Wright picked up her first win as a Coug with a 50.20 in the 100 free, Lundgren later set a Gibb Pool mark in the 200 breast with a 2:10.63, over seven seconds ahead of the closest Ute and good for her second NCAA "B" time of the evening.
 
 Washington State closed the evening with another winning relay, as the team of Skylar Brgoch, Wright, Angela Di Palo and Selena Duran Ortiz set a Gibb Pool record with a 3:20.46.
 
The Cougars will close out their regular season Saturday morning at Idaho beginning at 10 a.m.
