Academic Services September Student-Athletes of the Month

PULLMAN, Wash. (October 4, 2024) – Washington State Football's Gauge Machado and Volleyball's Weronika Wojdyla were each named the Academic Services Student-Athletes of the Month for September 2024.

Machado, a redshirt-sophomore offensive lineman, owns a 3.91 GPA while majoring in wildlife ecology and conservation. The Pasco, Wash. native earned Pac-12 Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll accolades last season and participates in a number of activities around the Pullman community. Machado volunteers to work with a Coug buddy in the WSU ROAR program (an inclusive postsecondary education program for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities), is a member of the WSU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and volunteers at the WSU Deer and Bear Center.

Wojdyla, a graduate outside hitter, owns a 3.88 graduate GPA while working towards a post-baccalaureate after graduating with a bachelor's degree in business administration and a graduate degree in apparel, merchandising, design and textiles. The Krakow, Poland native has demonstrated great growth in the classroom, improving her GPA each year and has helped the Cougars start the season 8-4 including a 3-0 mark in West Coast Conference play. Wojdyla has appeared in all 12 matches including three starts, recorded 53 kills and 12 blocks.
