PULLMAN, Wash. – Scott Halasz is set to join the Washington State women's soccer coaching staff as an assistant coach, WSU Head Coach Todd Shulenberger announced Friday. Halasz, a Washington native, returns to the Evergreen State after 11 seasons in Salt Lake City with the University of Utah.

"We are super excited to day to welcome Scott and his family to Coug Soccer," Coach Shulenberger said. "We are hiring not only a great coach, but a great guy, who pushes himself and others each day to get better."

Halasz spent the last six seasons as the associate head coach for the Utes. The Utes made the NCAA Tournament in Halasz's first season, 2013. He then helped them to the best finish in Utah program history during the 2016 campaign. In 2019, Halasz helped guide Utah in its return to the NCAA Championships, marking his third appearance to the tournament as a member of the Ute staff. During his time in Salt Lake City, Halasz worked with 10 All-Pac-12 selections and seven United Soccer Coaches All-Region honorees.

"Scott's attention to details, recruiting base, and his success on the west coast fits in perfectly with our program," Shulenberger added of Halasz. "Scott will jump right in with our goalkeepers and back line. Go Cougs!"

Halasz, a Seattle native, served as an assistant at Pacific Lutheran University prior to his tenure at Utah. Halasz has over 20 years of coaching experience and served as a coach with the Washington Premier soccer club. He was also the Washington Premier ECNL Director and coached numerous Washington state ODP and EDP teams.
