PULLMAN, Wash. (May 11, 2023) – Washington State women's swimmers Noelle Harvey and Emily Lundgren have been selected to represent the United States this summer at the World University Games in China.
 
Harvey and Lundgren are among 18 athletes selected for the women's team who will represent Team USA at The World University Games in Chengdu, China that was initially scheduled to run in August 2021, but was postponed multiple times due to the pandemic and will now run from July 28 – August 8, 2023.
 
"Washington State Swimming continues to raise the bar and set many firsts in program history," Head Coach Matt Leach said. "This time it's sending two Cougs, Emily Lundgren and Noelle Harvey to the World University Games to represent TEAM USA! Our staff, student-athletes and all of Cougar nation are extremely proud and know they will represent us well!"
 
Harvey took a leap forward as a sophomore this past season, posting five individual wins including wins in the 500 free over California and Utah, along with four WSU Top-10 times and helped three different relay team set school records. The Carlsbad, Calif. native was recently named the teams Cougar Award for her work in the classroom, the community and pool. Harvey closed out her season with a CSCAA NIC championship in the 400 free relay.
 
Lundgren had a record-setting freshman campaign, qualifying for the NCAA Championships in both the 100 and 200 breast after finishing third at the Pac-12 Conference Championships in the 200 Breast. The Chula Vista, Calif. native paced the team with 11 individual wins during the regular season, owns three WSU Top-10 times including school records in the 100 breast and 200 breast along with Gibb Pool records in the 100 breast and 200 breast. Lundgren was one of two WSU freshmen swimmers to earn a trip the NCAA's, the first freshmen to make the NCAA Championships.
