Evan Stinson and Marcus Wilson signed NLI to play at WSU

WSU Inks Stinson and Wilson as Future Cougs

| By:
PULLMAN, Wash. – Two future Washington State student-athletes signed National Letters of Intent to play basketball at WSU next fall, Cougar Head Coach Kyle Smith announced Wednesday. Evan Stinson and Marcus Wilson each expressed their intent to compete for the Cougars in the 2024-25 season.

Evan Stinson // Forward // 6-7 // 185 // Cheney, Wash.
Evan Stinson is a 6-foot 7-inch small forward from Cheney, Washington, and ranked as the second-best 2024 recruit in the state of Washington. Stinson enters his senior season at Cheney High School, looking for redemption after missing most of last winter with a broken foot. He returned to the court this spring and competed with Dan Dickau's Spokane Elite AAU team.

"We're very fortunate to have Evan as part of our program," Coach Smith said. "He gives us a local guy who has a chance to be a really good player. He's long, rangy, and can play in the backcourt or frontcourt. He's a true Coug."

Stinson ultimately chose WSU over Utah State, San Francisco and Eastern Washington, but selected the Cougs in part thanks to family connections. Stinson's aunt is current WSU Head Volleyball Coach Jen Greeny, who herself set the WIAA 2B scoring record as a high schooler.

As a sophomore, Stinson was a first-team all-league selection in the Greater Spokane League, averaging 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists per game. The Cheney native will become the seventh Washington-born student-athlete on the Cougar basketball roster.

Marcus Wilson // Guard // 6-2 // 170 // Albuquerque, N.M.
Marcus Wilson, a 6-foot 2-inch combo guard from Albuquerque, New Mexico, expressed his intent to play at Washington State next fall. Wilson is currently attending highly-regarded Bella Vista Prep in Scottsdale, Arizona, and are off to a 3-0 start to the season.

"Marcus is a guy who has been committed to our program for the last couple years," Coach Smith said of Wilson. "We're excited to have him and his family joining us. He's a guard that can play on and off the ball with really good speed. Marcus has excellent range and is a great decision maker."

Throughout the summer, Wilson played for Arizona Unity in the Nike EBYL, including a standout performance at the 2023 Peach Jam. Prior to arriving in Arizona, Wilson attended Cibola High School in Albuquerque and played club basketball for the Albuquerque Basketball Club. He was named one of New Mexico's top prep players in the class of 2024, including recognition as the state's No. 1 recruit in this year's class.
