DAY 9 BLOG | Athens – City Tour and Game day!
After the delicious hotel breakfast, the team was free for a few hours to shop or sunbathe or explore Athens. The more adventuresome contingent of the travel party (mainly coaches and staff) went on a walking tour of historical Athens. Three and a half hours and later the group returned having walked over six miles and seen countless historical landmarks and museums.
The team then ate a delicious pregame meal at the hotel, had a couple hours downtime before the third and final exhibition game of the trip, this time against University of Regina Cougars from Canada.
Regina come out playing energetic and inspired basketball and played even for about the first five minutes. Cougs (WSU) then cleaned it up a bit and took a commanding lead for good by the second quarter.
Astera Tuhina had a nice all-around game with 16 points, five assists and seven rebounds while Beyonce Bea had seven points, led the team with 11 rebounds, and blocked four shots. Tara Wallack had 10 points, nine rebounds and five assists while and Bella Murekatete and Jenna Villa each had 18 points to lead the all scorers.
The Cougs got local pizza delivered and turned in early to get ready for the early morning departure and end to a wonderful trip.
