Washington State earned an unprecedented third-straight bid into the NCAA Tournament after winning the 2023 Pac-12 Women's Basketball Tournament in Las Vegas. The Cougs defeated No. 19/16 UCLA, 65-61, in the Pac-12 Championship game to earn the Conference's at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament. The Cougars became the lowest seed to ever win the Pac-12 Tournament. WSU was the No. 7 seed in the tournament and defeated four teams in five days to win the school's first-ever Pac-12 Championship in a women's sport.

The Cougars won a program-record 23 games this season, as WSU went 23-11 overall this season. The 23 wins collected by Washington State broke a 44-year-long program record of 21 wins set by the 1978-79 team.
