PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State rowing's Emma Barrett and men's track and field's Ryan Davy have been named the Academic Services Student-Athletes of the Month for March 2022.
A fifth-year rower, Barrett graduated with a degree in Kinesiology in August of 2021 before coming back to WSU to work on a post-baccalaureate in psychology. She is a two time Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll honoree as well as twice being named a Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Scholar Student-Athlete. Over the summer she did an internship with Performance Nutrition working closely with the Summer Bridge student-athletes. She has volunteered and interned for her local rowing club in Virginia and at an elementary school and with her team's canned food drives. On the water Barrett has rowed in a varsity boat since her freshman year while competing in the 1st Varsity 8-boat at the 2021 NCAA Rowing Championship.
A junior sprinter on the men's track and field team, Davy will graduate early from WSU with a degree in Kinesiology after posting a remarkable 3.98 gpa during his years of study. In his final semester, he will complete his internships in the exercise physiology and performance lab on campus. For his work he was selected to be a presenter at the Bruya Wood conference on campus. He also volunteered at a running club previously in Vancouver and helped with strength and conditioning workouts for a group of younger kids on the club team. After graduation he would like to work at a lab on campus or in Spokane or work in a hospital setting.
Each month Washington State Academic Services honors a male and female student-athlete that demonstrates commitment to academics while participating in their sport.
