2021 Women's Golf Schedule
PULLMAN, Wash. -- Washington State University women's golf head coach Kelli Kamimura announced the Cougars 2021 schedule on Wednesday, Jan. 20. The seven-tournament slate gets underway with the Lamkin Invitational on Feb. 8-9 at The Farms Golf Club in San Diego, California, and runs through late April, with the Pac-12 Championships taking place on April 23-25 at the Stanford Golf Club in Stanford, California.
"We look forward to starting our season in a few weeks," said Kamimura. "Our 2021 schedule is very competitive, and we look forward to competing on a mix of west coast golf courses against schools from all across the country. The players have worked hard over the last year and they are excited to compete together as a team."
After their season-opening tournament at the Lamkin Invitational, the Cougars will head to the desert the following week (Feb. 15-17) to play in the Sun Devil Winter Classic, hosted by Arizona State, at the Talking Stick Resort Golf Club. The Cougars will take a brief pause, before kicking off a busy month of March at the Bruin-Wave Invitational (March 1-3), at the Saticoy Golf Club in Oxnard, California. WSU will return to the Golden State March 8-9 to play in the Meadow Club Invitational in Fairfax, California. Senior Marie Lund-Hansen and sophomore Amy Chu will look to defend their individual titles at the Meadow Club Invitational, after splitting the individual championship at last year's tournament. The Cougs round out March with the Arizona State PING Invitational (March 26-28) at the Papago Golf Course in Phoenix, Arizona.
Washington State will get its final tune-up before the Pac-12 Championship at the Silverado Showdown (April 5-7) in Napa, California. WSU will conclude the regular season at the Pac-12 Championship, hosted this season by Stanford University, from April 23-25.
This will be the latest start to a season in program history for the Cougars, as the fall portion of their season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Washington State returns six golfers from last season's team, which includes fifth-year senior Marie Lund-Hansen. Lund-Hansen returns to the Cougars after having her senior year cut short last spring, due to the NCAA cancelling the majority of the spring season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Redshirt junior Emily Baumgart also returns for the Cougars, as do sophomores Amy Chu, Darcy Habgood and Cameron March, along with freshman Jiye Ham.
WSU also welcomes in a pair of newcomers this season, as junior Jessie Lin and freshman Jinyu Wu will compete in their first season on the Palouse. Lin, a Kaohsiung, Taiwan native, comes to Pullman after a two-year career at the College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, California. Meanwhile, Wu, a native of Shanghai, China, travels across the country to join the program after playing her prep golf at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
