SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Washington State University quarterback Anthony Gordon and soccer All-American Morgan Weaver were named the 2019-20 recipients of the Pac-12 Tom Hansen Conference Medal, it was announced Thursday. The Tom Hansen Conference Medal is awarded annually to each member institution's outstanding senior male and female student-athlete based on the exhibition of the greatest combination of performance and achievement in scholarship, athletics and leadership.

Gordon, from Pacifica, Calif., completed his senior season in record-setting fashion, throwing for a WSU and Pac-12 Conference single-season record 5,579 yards. He also set school and conference single-season records for passing touchdowns (48), total offense (5,559) and completions (493) en route to being named All-Pac-12 Second Team. Gordon also led the country in passing yards/g (429.2), 300-yard games (12), 400-yard games (9) and was second in passing TDs (48) passing yards (5,579).

Gordon, a semifinalist for the Davey O'Brien Award, given to the nation's best quarterback, was a three-time Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week during his senior campaign. He recorded three of the top four single-game passing performances in the country in 2019 (1st - 606 vs. Oregon State, 2nd - 570 vs UCLA, 4th - 520 vs. Stanford) while leading the Cougars to their school-record fifth-straight bowl appearance. He signed as a free agent with the Seattle Seahawks following the 2020 NFL Draft.

Off the field, Gordon volunteered at WSU Athletics annual holiday celebration with local children, as well as volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. He is scheduled to earn his degree in social sciences later this summer.

Weaver, from University Place, Wash., finished her illustrious career at WSU as the program's second leading scorer having netted 43 goals and tallying 98 points. Only the second All-American in program history, Weaver led the Cougars to their first College Cup in 2019 as a senior after posting a career-best 15 goals, the third most in single season history and the most for a Coug striker in the past 26 seasons. Scoring in bunches throughout her career, Weaver posted nine multi-goal games including tying the program record with four goals in just 45 minutes against Colorado on senior day. In addition to her play at WSU, Weaver has been a part of the U-23 USWNT system and earned the program's first invite to a senior national team training camp in December.

In the 2020 National Women's Soccer League Draft in January, Weaver became the highest draft pick in program history after being selected with the second overall pick by the Portland Thorns. Weaver, who is on track to earn a degree in humanities this summer, volunteered her time at WSU Athletics events as well as the Eastern Washington Special Olympics Basketball Tournament.

Conference medal winners have been named every year since the 1960-61 academic year. In 2009, the Pac-12 renamed the award the Tom Hansen Conference Medal in honor of Hansen, who retired at the end of June 2009 after serving for 26 years as Commissioner of the Pac-10.
