Women's Golf Signs Wu Out of IMG Academy

PULLMAN, Wash. – The Washington State University women's golf team has landed its first signee of the 2020 National Signing Period, as Jinyu Wu has inked her National Letter of Intent to play for the Cougars beginning in the fall of 2020.
Wu comes to the Palouse via the prestigious IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. During her time at the IMG Academy, Wu picked up eight top-10 finishes and won the TeenGiv.org Girls Junior All-Star Tournament on March 29, 2018 by carding 216 (76-72-68). More recently on Feb. 14, 2020, Wu picked up a fifth-place finish at Sean Foley Performance Junior Championship by scoring 222 (77-70-75).
"We are so excited to welcome Jinyu to the Cougar Family," said WSU head coach Kelli Kamimura. "Jinyu is a hard worker and brings a lot of competitive experience to the program coming from the IMG Academy. We couldn't be more excited that she has chosen to be a Coug."
The newest Coug ranked #45 overall in the Class of 2020 according to American Junior Golf Association, and was ranked #120 in the nation by the AJGA.
Wu was born in Shanghai, China to Chengying Wu and Wei Gu. Her father, Chengying, was a soccer player for the Chinese National Team and started for China at the 2002 FIFA World Cup. While her mother, Wei, was a trainer. Jinyu was two younger sisters, Siu Ve Wu and Tsum Ve Wu.
