KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Washington State men's basketball sophomore
CJ Elleby has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division I All-District 19 Second Team, the organization announced Monday.
After earning First Team All-Pac-12 earlier in the month, Elleby earned his first all-district award in just his second season on the Palouse. Last season, his former teammate
Robert Franks earned first team honors to close out his career while the last Cougar to earn second team honors was Josh Hawkinson in 2017.
The organization divides all Division I schools into 24 Districts, District 19 consists of the Pac-12 schools.Â
The Cougars' leader on the floor, Elleby finished his sophomore season as one of the top wings in the country as the Seattle native ended the year ranked fourth in the Pac-12 in scoring at 18.4 points per game, a number good enough for 71st in the country. He would end his season with 589 points, eighth all-time in WSU single-season history while his 74 made three-pointers were the second best for a sophomore in Coug history. Through his scoring prowess, Elleby became the third fastest Coug in program history to reach 1,000 career points, achieving the feat in just 61 games. In total he scored in double-figures in 28 of 32 games while going for 20+ in 18 contests and 30+ twice including scoring a career-best 34 in the Cougs win over rival Washington Feb. 9. In addition to his scoring, Elleby was the Cougs' best rebounder at 7.8 rpg, ranking seventh in the Pac-12. He would also get it done on the defensive end finishing first in the Pac-12 at 1.75 steals per game.Â
