PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State dropped a nonconference matchup to Gonzaga 15-3 at Bailey-Brayton Field Tuesday afternoon.

Kyle Manzardo paced the Cougars (9-7) with a two more hits including a solo homer in the first inning to extend his hitting streak to 16 games.
Collin Montez matched a career high with three hits and drove in a run. Freshman pitcher
Grant Taylor worked two scoreless innings and fellow freshman
Ethan Ross worked a scoreless ninth. Gonzaga (6-10) used a nine-run third inning, tallied 15 hits and took advantage of nine Cougar walks and four hit-by-pitches.

Both teams traded runs in the opening frame as Gonzaga score with a bases-loaded single before WSU answered with Manzardo who lined a 1-0 pitch off the top of the right field wall for his third home run of the season.

In the third, Gonzaga took advantage of five hits, two hit-by-pitches and three walks to push nine runs across in the inning. Montez countered with an RBI-single to right field in the bottom of the inning.

Gonzaga added three more runs in the fifth while
Kodie Kolden tripled in a run for the Cougars in the bottom of the frame.
