Day 4 WSU Tops Last Year's Score By 111.5 Points

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. WSU continued the record-breaking trend into the last day of the Pac-12 Championships. Keiana Fountaine broke her own record again, and four cougars improved on their WSU All Time Top 10 times. With the last event of the day, the 400 Freestyle Relay being broken as well. Washington State University ended with 396 points, topping last years score by 111.5 points.

In the morning swims Keiana Fountaine did not slow up after breaking a school record yesterday. Fountaine broke her own record in the 100 Free by .40 seconds with a time of 49.28. The next event in the 100 Freestyle Chloe Larson shaved .10 seconds off her original WSU All Time Top 10 time finishing with a 49.63.

Taylor McCoy kept with her trend of getting faster and faster each day, this time in the 200 Back. McCoy keeps inching closer and closer to the breaking the record, she ended with a time of 1:56.49, she is now only .14 seconds behind the record.

The night events proved again to be successful for the Cougars as Lauren Burckel swam in the 200 Breast B Final and won her heat with a time of 2:11.28 to keep her 3rd spot overall on the WSU All Time Top 10 list. Mia Zahab in the next event the 200 Fly clocked in at 1:59.28 keeping her spot at the 4th spot overall.

To end the night the team of Keiana Fountaine, Payton Bokowy, Emily Barrier, and Chloe Larson smashed the 400 Freestyle Relay record by over 1 second with a time of 3:19.70. The previous record was set back in 2011.

"It was great for our program to score in every event today, It has not happened for our team in a long time, so it was great to see that" said Head Coach Matt Leach "To finish off today with a bunch of life time best times, two new school records, and ending with 111.5 more points than we did last year, it shows you where are program is going."

Leach continued by saying "With our two seniors, Luci and Ryan graduating and moving on I am excited to see where our future will go with our 12-incoming freshman. We will continue to work really hard and try to raise the bar every day."
