STARTING FIVE
-> Washington State heads into the weekend looking to snap a two-game losing streak after dropping a pair of contests at home to Arizona and Arizona State. Overall on the year, WSU is an even 9-9, while they stand at 2-4 in Pac-12 play through six road games.
-> The Cougars come into the weekend looking to win three-straight conference games on the road. The last time Washington State won three Pac-12 road games in a row was during the 2013-14 season with wins at USC (Jan. 31; 79-75), at Utah (Feb. 14; 83-73) and at Colorado (Feb. 16; 80-77).
-> Redshirt senior Borislava Hristova enters this week with 2,042 career points, which is the 22nd-most in Pac-12 history. She needs just 17 points to surpass Arizona's Davellyn White for 21st. Hristova became Washington State's all-time leading scorer on Jan. 5, 2020 in a 96-75 win at Cal, then later became the school's first 2,000-point scorer in a victory at Washington on Jan. 11, 2020.
-> Senior Chanelle Molina recently moved into third on Washington State's all-time assists list with 382 career helpers. She needs 67 more assists to break Darla Williamson's (1988-92) record of 448. Molina's 4.3 assists per game leads the Cougs and is the ninth-best per game average in the Pac-12.
-> WSU will be looking to snap a four-game losing streak to the Trojans on Friday. The last Washington State win against USC came on Jan. 8, 2017 with a 74-57 victory in Pullman. The last Cougar win in Los Angeles came on Jan. 31, 2014 with WSU taking a 79-75 decision.
LAST TIME OUT
Washington State led for over 25 minutes against No. 18/19 Arizona State last Sunday at Beasley Coliseum, but the Cougars would go cold in the fourth quarter, dropping a 65-56 decision to the Sun Devils.
WSU went scoreless over the final 3:11 of game play against ASU, as the Sun Devils outscored the Cougs, 23-10, in the fourth quarter to mount the comeback win. Senior Borislava Hristova scored a game-high 22 points in the loss.
THE ROARING 20's
Redshirt senior Borislava Hristova has recorded 20-or-more points in 10 games this season. She is the first senior for WSU to score least 20 points in 10-or-more games during their senior campaign in nearly 25 years. The last senior to have at least 10 games with 20-or-more points was Jenni Ruff, who hit the 20-point plateau a program-best 19 times during her senior campaign back during the 1995-96 season.
CHANELLE FROM DISTANCE
Senior Chanelle Molina currently leads the Cougs in 3-point field goal percentage with a 38.4% success rate. This season Molina has hit a team-high 43 shots from behind to arc to push her career total to 158 made 3-pointers. The Kailua Kona, Hawaii native needs just two more makes from deep to move into a tie for third on Washington State's all-time 3-point field goals made list with Lia Galdeira (2012-15).
CLOSING IN ON ANOTHER RECORD
With her last start, redshirt senior Borislava Hristova moved into second on WSU's career starts list with 111. The forward needs nine more starts to break Carly Noyes' (2010-13) program record of 119 starts. Hristova's 3,503 minutes played is currently the third-most played in program history. Jonni Gray (1985-89) currently holds the record with 3,643 minutes played.
KNOCKING DOWN THEIR SHOTS
The Cougs have been efficient all season in terms of field goal percentage, as they enter play this week with the 28th-best success rate in all of NCAA Division I at 45.1%. SCOUTING THE TROJANS
Southern California comes into Friday's matchup against Washington State fresh off of the Trojan's first Pac-12 victory of the season, with a 70-68 double overtime victory over crosstown rival UCLA. The Trojans stand at 1-5 through six Pac-12 contests, while they hold a 9-8 overall record on the year.
USC's 61.6 points per contest is the lowest per game scoring average in the Pac-12, while their 38.9% field goal percentage is also the low-mark for the Conference. The Trojans feature a trio of double-digit scorers with Alissa Pili leading the way at 12.9 points per game. The first-year forward was recently named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week after a 19-point, 17-rebound performance against UCLA.
