Cougars Compete Against No. 8 USC

PULLMAN, Wash. (Jan. 10, 2020) – Washington State women's swimming competed against eighth-ranked USC, dropping a 155-102 decision at Gibb Pool Friday.

Sophomore Keiana Fountaine led the way for the Cougars with an impressive win the 200 freestyle, finishing over three seconds ahead of USC's second-place finisher for her third individual win this season. Fountaine also finished three-tenths of a second behind USC in the 100 freestyle.

Junior Samantha Howell notched a season-best in the 1,000 freestyle, finishing in second place while Kate Laderoute finished second in the 100 backstroke, Mackenzie Duarte touched the wall second in the 100 and 200 breast, Mia Zahab was second in the 200 butterfly, Taylor McCoy was second in the 200 back, Michee Van Rooyen was five-tenths of second behind the Trojans in the 500 free for a second place finish. McCoy also finished second in the 400 IM.

The Cougars will host No. 31 UCLA Saturday at 11 a.m. in Gibb Pool. Prior to the meet, WSU will recognize its two seniors Luci Brock and Ryan Falk.
