The WSU volleyball All-American has signed with Engelholms Volleyball.

ÄNGELHOLM, Sweden – Washington State Volleyball All-American McKenna Woodford signed her first professional volleyball contract with Engelholms Volleyball (EVS) of Ängelholm, Sweden.

The former WSU standout from Chandler, Arizona made an immediate impact for the Cougars during her debut season as a freshman, earning Pac-12 All-Freshman First Team honors, along with two Pac-12 Freshman of the Week selections. Woodford continued to ride that momentum throughout the rest of her WSU career, making contributions both on and off the court.

McKenna finished her illustrious four-year career at WSU, finishing eighth overall in all-time kills with 1,257, eighth in kills per set at 2.95, and fourth overall in total points at 1,445.5. During her senior season, where she helped lead the Cougars to a NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearance, Woodford earned AVCA All-American Honorable Mention honors, along with an AVCA Pacific North All-Region selection as well. The awards continued during 2018, as she was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® 8 team, along with being named WSU Academic Services December Student-Athlete of the Month, and was named WSU Arts and Sciences Outstanding Senior.

International play will be nothing new for McKenna, seeing two stints competing overseas with the U.S. Collegiate National Team. She was a member of the 2016 team that won the Annual Global Challenge Tournament in Pula, Croatia, and was selected to the 2017 U.S. Collegiate National Team as well, which competed in Thailand during that summer.

Woodford helped anchor the Cougars a season ago to a 23-10 overall record, and a No. 16 overall seed in the NCAA Championship Tournament, earning the right to host the opening two rounds of play. Washington State defeated Northern Arizona and Tennessee to advance into the Sweet Sixteen, where WSU ultimately fell against No. 1 overall seed, and eventual 2018 NCAA Champion Stanford. She was a driving force for the Washington State offensive attack throughout the three post-season matches, totaling 38 overall kills to aid the Cougars in their best tournament run since 2002.

McKenna will look to make an impact for EVS, a member of the Elitserien Damer league, who a year ago finished first overall, totaling 19 victories in league play.
