GEORGE TOWN, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands – Washington State men's basketball will face Nebraska in the quarterfinals of the Cayman Islands Classic, Monday, Nov. 25 at 4:30 p.m. PT, Caymax Sports LTD announced, along with the rest of the first-day matchups.
The games will take place at John Gray Gymnasium at George Town, Grand Cayman. Colorado State will face New Mexico State in the opening game at 11 a.m. ET/8 a.m. PT, followed by Loyola Chicago meeting South Florida at 10:30 a.m. PT. In the first game of the evening session at 2 p.m. PT, George Mason plays Old Dominion, which is followed by the WSU-Nebraska matchup at 4:30 p.m. PT.
The Cougars and Huskers have met eight times with Nebraska holding a 2-6 advantage in the all-time series. The two teams last met Nov. 21, 1998 at the Top of the World Classic at Fairbanks, Alaska, a 95-84 Nebraska victory.
Semifinal round games are slated for 10:30 a.m. PT and 4:30 p.m. PT the following day, Tuesday, Nov. 26. Teams in the consolation bracket will play their second game Nov. 26 with tip offs at 8 a.m. PT and 2 p.m. PT
The seventh-place game will open the final day of competition on Wednesday, Nov. 27 starting at 8 a.m. PT, followed by the fifth-place game (10:30 a.m. PT), third-place game (2 p.m. PT) and title game (4:30 p.m. PT) to crown the Cayman Islands Classic champion.
The Cayman Islands Classic is sponsored by the Mountain West Conference. Located in the western Caribbean Sea, an hour from Miami, the Cayman Islands comprises the three islands of Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman, located south of Cuba and northwest of Jamaica.
